Reading time is estimated using an average adult reading speed of about 230 words per minute. Actual time varies with text difficulty, formatting, and the reader. Treat the estimate as a guide for blog posts, scripts, and presentation notes rather than a precise stopwatch.

Common limits you may be writing toward include social captions (often a few hundred characters), meta descriptions (roughly 150–160 characters for search snippets), and academic word caps. Paste a draft, trim to the target, then copy the final text back into your document.
